Florida Vacation August 2012

We went to Venice, FL, for a week to visit Grandpa or Hempha, as Hunter called him all week.  We rented a great condo at a really low price that was very near Grandpa's house.  It took about 10 hours to get down there.  Both boys did really well in the car.  I sat in the middle in between them pretty much the entire way.

We were all tired by the time we got to the condo.  Grandpa came over to help us unload, so that allowed me to get Hunter bathed and ready for bed a little quicker. After putting away lots of decorations, the condo was declared child proofed.

Over the course of the week, Hunter got to go to the pool 4x's, beach 3x's, splash pad 2x's, and park once.  Henry got to go to the beach a couple times as well.  We went at night so it was cooler and we didn't have to worry about sunburns (he is took young to wear sunscreen).  We went out to eat a few times (not including travel to and from FL).  We ate at a nice seafood place on the water in Siesta Key.  We did a drive by so I could see the beautiful white sand.

At each and every meal out including travel to and from FL, regardless of when he had last eaten, Henry decided he needed to eat then too.  So, either Darin or I had to eat cold food or rush to finish our food to take Henry.  He's good for the diet though.    I cooked several heavy meals and we were able to put away some leftovers in Grandpa's freezer.  Grandpa grilled out for us one night too.  He had a sundae bar set up too!  Going to Florida with a 1.5 month old definitely made it quite a different beach trip than in the past.  We got lots of quality time with Grandpa though.  Since that was the goal of the trip, it was a sucess!!

Hunter likes the fish at Sharky's, Grandpa's favorite restaurant.

Henry sleeping while we waited on our a food....he woke up as soon as the food arrived at the table.

Sand Hill Crane

I think the tag on the shovel adds to the picture.

Our first night visit to Venice Beach.

Hunter, Henry, Grandpa and me.

Hunter liked dumping the sand.

Love this picture.

Grandpa enjoying his favorite hobby, photography.

For some reason, the urge to taste the sand just overcame Hunter's common sense so he ate it.

Doing a little jig of excitement over the playground.

Hunter loved the splash pad.  He'd have played for hours if Daddy had let him.

Henry's version of laying out at the beach.

My little GA fan.

Hunter checking out the fountain outside the Mexican restaurant.

Henry sleeping while Grandpa was grlling.  Of course, he woke up as soon as we sat down at the kitchen table.

I love that Hunter is on his tippy toes trying to see what Grandpa was doing.

This picture looks like a painting to me.

Last time at the beach.

Getting brave....going closer to the water.

Daddy joining in the fun at the splash pad.

Just a picture reminder that Henry was on the vacation too.

Hunter has Grandpa's beautiful blue/green eyes.
