Henry's 6 Months Old

Henry is 6 months old!  He had his well check appointment today.  He just finished 10 days of antibiotics yesterday.  Unfortunately, there's still a substantial amount of fluid behind both ear drums, but ear drums aren't bulging (not infected).  Usually though, it is just a matter of time with fluid behind the ear drum before it turns into an infection.  Thankfully we already know where to take Henry in Cincinnati if it does turn into an infection next week.  After almost continuous ear infections since September, Henry is scheduled to get tubes in his ears on January 3rd.  Hunter also had tubes just after he turned 6 months old.

He is continuing physical therapy every other week.  We've seen lots of progress, but I wouldn't say that he has caught up yet.  He is sitting up with assistance.  Henry continues to roll from his back to his belly and then usually he cries because he doesn't want to be on his belly but he hasn't figure out how to roll back.

He loves to play with his toys that hang from his play gym, toys that dangle from the bar over the toddler chair and sometimes he shows interest in the toys on his car seat.  He really enjoys the mobiles (he liked it so much that we put one on either end) in his crib.  His favorite thing to do though is to watch Hunter play.

Henry doesn't consistently sleep through the night.  Darin and I plan to do sleep training with Henry after he gets tubes in his ears. Of course, we have to move him out of our room first.  While in Cincinnati for Christmas, he will not be sleeping in the same room as us - so that will be our first step in that direction. Whether Henry wakes up in the night or not, he usually sleep between 11 - 11.5 hours a night and takes three 30 minute naps during the day.

Henry is wearing 12-18 month clothing.  The weather is warmer in GA than it was in Ohio, so we've actually ended up doing shopping for lighter weight winter clothing.  I guess that's okay because it means that Henry gets some clothes that aren't hand-me-downs.

Stats:

20 lbs 5.5 oz - 90th percentile
18.25 inches head circumference - 95th percentile
29.25 inches tall - off the charts

The chart that our GA pediatricians use is different than the chart the Ohio pediatricians used, but you can compare Henry's 6 month's stats to Hunter's 6 Month Stats.
